Why the Lakers could reunite with Lonzo Ball before the trade deadline

The NBA trade deadline is putting pressure on several teams, including Los Angeles Lakers. However, they were able to land Lonzo Ball during the termper Athletic’s Jovan Buha and Hoops Tonight’s Jason Timpf. The news is not that much of a surprise.

after all, LeBron James and Anthony Davis pressured the Lakers before the trade deadline. They have shown concern in some areas, one of which is the lack of point guard. The team traded D’Angelo Russell to the Brooklyn Nets and brought back Dorian Finney-Smith and Sheik Milton.

Although those players are quality, Los Angeles sent their only point guard. Although Austin Reaves has taken over that role, the team still needs a true point guard. Enter Ball. He is a 6’6 playmaking guard who can rebound, defend and knock down open shots well.

Although he struggled with injuries for the last three seasons, he finally made his debut. He showed once again how much the weapon is in transition. Both James and Davis could benefit greatly from it. Interestingly, James played with Ball during his rookie and sophomore seasons. He understands how good the ball would be.

Lonzo Ball would fit perfectly with the Lakers

One area Los Angeles lacks is pace of play. They are 22nd in the league in pace. While not too worrisome, it does stop the offense from time to time. Also, relying on James to run the fast break isn’t the most ideal thing, given his age. However, that’s where the Bulls point guard comes in.

He has a history of pushing the pace in transition. At 6’6, he is able to get rebounds and start the fast break right away, much like Denver Nuggets point guard Russell Westbrook. His current stats don’t do him justice, but the Lakers won’t need him to be a superstar.

They would like him to set the table and let the superstars eat. After all, Ball’s highest assists per game average came in his rookie season, when he started and played alongside James. On the other hand, Taurus are in a bit of a limbo. They are on the verge of being a playoff team, yet a lottery team. Rumors flew The ball has been traded since his return.

With players like Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic and Ball, it makes it tempting to keep them around and see what happens. At the end of the day, if Ball is traded, the Lakers will be the winners, and that could set off a domino effect of a trade for Chicago.
