Why the Warriors might cover the spread/win
The Warriors haven’t played well latelybut the Raptors were even worse. Toronto is on a five-game losing streak, and none of the games have been this close. In their last five games, the Raptors have scored just 107.8 points per game. Toronto has scored fewer than 100 points in two of its last five games. Their inability to put up points in the last five games, as well as the season as a whole, is why the Raptors have yet to reach 10 wins.
Golden State has its flaws, but defense doesn’t seem to be one of them. The Warriors allowed just 110.8 points per game, 10th fewest in the NBA. Additionally, the Warriors are holding their opponents to just 45.6 percent shooting and 35.0 percent from beyond the arc. Both of these numbers are tied for the best in the NBA defensively. If the Warriors can find a way to continue that type of defense in this game, they will be able to cover the spread.
Toronto is allowing the fourth most points per game this season. The Raptors are allowing opponents to make five 3-pointers per game this season. The Warriors want to shoot the long ball and that’s how they prefer to win. In fact, the Warriors are taking the fourth 3-pointers per game. Golden State should hit those threes on Monday night. If they can, the Warriors will cover the spread.
Why the Raptors could cover the spread/win
Toronto doesn’t score well, so they need to pick it up defensively if they want any chance of keeping this game close. The good news is that the Warriors haven’t been scoring the best of late. In their last 10 games, the Warriors have allowed just 106.9 points per game. That number has dropped to 104.2 over the last five games. Golden State has been losing games due to a lack of offense, so the Raptors have a decent chance of success on Monday night.
In the last five games, the Warriors have played somewhat worse defense. Golden State is allowing 113.7 points per game while allowing their opponents to shoot 49.8 percent from the field. The Warriors have had a tough time closing and overall defense in their recent games. This is something the Raptors have to take advantage of. Whether it’s Scotty Barnes, RJ Barrett or someone else, the Raptors need someone to step up and play a big game. If they can get that, Toronto can cover the spread.
Final Warriors-Raptors Prediction & Pick
The Raptors are just not a good team this season and I don’t trust them. I will lead the Warriors not only to win, but to cover the spread.
Final Warriors-Raptors Prediction & Pick: Warriors -4.5 (-112)
