Warriors’ Steve Kerr takes full responsibility for Raptors’ frustrating loss
As it is The Golden State Warriors are eyeing the Feb. 6 trade deadline likely for help, the need for which was heightened by the team’s loss to the Toronto Raptors on Monday night, 104-101. Warriors star Stephen Curry would comment on the team’s future after the game together with the head coach Steve Kerr who took full responsibility for what happened in the defeat.
It seemed like so long ago that Golden State went a blistering 12-3 to start the season, but now they’re one game under .500 after a disappointing loss to Toronto. Kerr would say the loss is his “error” and talked about the lack of enforcement according to Anthony Slater.
“We just didn’t look good, you know, we didn’t execute very well,” Kerr said. “We are disciplined enough, and it’s my fault. I’m the coach of the team, I have to, I have to find a way to help this team, and I’m not doing it well. We’re in a streak, we’re not working, but it happens throughout the game on both sides, missed rotations, missed coverages in defense, and then poor possession in attack. That’s me.”
While the Warriors have had plenty of frustrating losses this season, Kerr would make one Monday night’s case rank near the top.
“It’s as frustrating a night as we’ve had all season, this game was there for us, and we just let him, let him get back into it,” Kerr said. “And again, it’s a lack of discipline in our coverage defensively, in our offensive execution.” And I’m the coach, so it’s my fault.”
Warriors against giving the future to maximize the present

Many inside Warriors like Draymond Green were against that approach to give up their whole future to get most of their present. Kerr joins in and says he will “irresponsible” for the team to do so according to The Athletic.
“But you have to be realistic organizationally about where you are,” Kerr said. “And you have to keep in mind what the future holds for you.” I probably won’t be there, but I would tell you, if this organization gave the next six or seven drafts a wild swing, that would be the most irresponsible thing they could do.
“We want to keep what made us warriors, what made us this organization,” Kerr continued. “That means we have to keep fighting.” But it means dealing with the pain and indignity of loss with a dignified response. I think it manifests itself in many different ways. And one of those ways is to not do anything crazy. Maintain the integrity of the operation. I think everyone agrees with that and agrees with that. We all want the organization to progress as well as possible. And we all agree that it would be really irresponsible to jeopardize the future to have a wild stab at something.”
Golden State is 19-20, which puts them in 12th place in the Western Conference when they next face the Minnesota Timberwolves.
