Tyler Hero reveals how the Heat are moving forward amid the Jimmy Butler trade ‘chaos’
The The Miami Heat have had a roller coaster ride this season so far in 2024-25, navigation trade rumors surrounding Jimmy Butler and trying to keep up in a crowded Eastern Conference playoff picture. Tyler Herro has been by far the Heat’s most consistent player so far this year, enjoying his healthiest campaign in recent memory and putting up All-Star-level numbers.
The Heat have now won three straight as part of their current trip to the West Coast, and recently Herro was 100 percent realistic about how the team could to navigate the saga of Butler and his current suspension as he continues to add to the win column.
“We’re just rallying around each other, talking about the guys that are here now, the guys that are in this locker room,” Hero said, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, per Hoopshipe . “We have enough, and that’s all that matters.” That’s what we wanted to get back on the road, get away from our chaos and come here and compete and get back to who we are and find our identity.”
Forward Haywood Highsmith echoed a similar sentiment.
“We agree.” The vibes are great,” Highsmith told FanDuel Sports. “Everyone is locked up.” We communicate with each other on the field. We are connected. And the team chemistry off the field is incredible. We all do it together. We hold each other accountable.”

Wins against teams that are either .500 or below aren’t necessarily a great yardstick for measuring an organization’s success, but the Heat will take wins however they can get them at the moment given the turmoil that has already engulfed their 2024-25 campaign. .
Bam Adebayo, Terry Rozier and Jaime Jaquez Jr. have all seen significant regression so far this year (although Jaquez may now be turning a corner on this trip), and it’s largely been up to Hero to hold down the fort in Butler’s absence, showing improvements in the plays he’s shown in the series against the Boston Celtics last year year.
Either way, the Heat’s road is set to resume on Monday night against the Los Angeles Clippers, but it remains to be seen if the fires in the area will affect the status of that contest.
