The Grizzlies’ Ja Morant takes a rough look at an attempt to posterize Victor Vembanyama
Memphis Grizzlies rush hour I Morant added one more person to my posterization list: Victor Vembanyama. after all, Morant put Vembanyama to shame with an epic poster during Wednesday’s win. A double-double with 21 points and 12 assists has become routine for the Memphis guard.
When Michael Wallace asked about the dunk at Wembanyama after the game, Morant explained it he doesn’t care who is on the basket when trying to dunk.
“It was a different person at the rim,” Morant said. “I nailed a lot of people, bro. He doesn’t get a pass. If you’re on the edge, I’ll try you in that situation.”
He’s not kidding. In December at TD Garden against the Boston Celtics, he produced another highlight reel moment. While driving the baseline, Morant went viral because of Kristaps Porzingis’ reverse dunk. Interestingly, he’s 7’2 and the Grizzlies guard dunked on him with ease. Besides, dunks are one thing, back dunks are another. Morant’s athleticism continues to shine.

Luckily, Memphis is more than just a one-man show. They have the greatest offense in the NBA. Thanks to Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bain, they have formed a lethal trio that can excel in all areas of the floor. Plus, there’s a dynamic element that Morant brings with his athleticism.
That forces the defense to load up on him and even clog up the paint. That allows guys like Bain and Jackson Jr. opportunity to get a clean look from the perimeter. The offense allowed head coach Taylor Jenkins to get super creative and throw in different looks.
For example, the team did not have a game under 100 points that season. Not to mention, Morant was dealing with a sprained AC joint in his shoulderwhich sidelined him for almost two weeks. As soon as he returned, Memphis continued its success.
After all, this probably won’t be the last time Morant tries to climb the ladder and introduce the big man. His nuclear athleticism caught many off guard, even his teammates and coaches. Still, this moment could be the pinnacle for the Memphis point guard for whom he dunked.
