The Eagles’ NFC Championship win has the Saints interested in Kellen Moore

The Philadelphia Eagles reached Super Bowl 59 after defeating the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship game NFL playoffs on Sunday. This success could result in an offensive coordinator Kellen Moore leaving for a senior position currently open for the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints have yet to return to the playoffs since 2020, having missed the postseason four straight seasons. They finished 5-12 last campaign, suffered season-ending injuries to quarterback Derek Carr, wide receiver Rasheed Shahid and tight end Taysom Hill.

They fired Dennis Allen midway through the season after appointing Darren Rizzi as an interim. The Saints went 3-5 over their final eight games of the season, finishing in last place in the NFC South division.

New Orleans needs new energy after a couple of disappointing seasons, which the Eagles’ Kellen Moore could bring.

Moore was successful in his first season as Philadelphia’s offensive coordinator, finishing 14-3 en route to the Super Bowl in the NFL playoffs. They ranked second in yards per game, third in total touchdowns scored, seventh in points per game and eighth in total yards per game during the regular season.

He was also able to integrate star running back Saquon Barkley into the offense. Barkley had the best season of his career so far, racking up 2,005 yards rushing while scoring 13 touchdowns.

This is something he can take advantage of with Saints star Alvin Kamara. This season, he became the Saints’ all-time rushing leader, finishing the campaign with a career-high 950 yards and six touchdowns while adding 543 receiving yards and two scores.

While the Saints wait to meet Moore, he will be preparing for the Eagles’ appearance in Super Bowl 59 on February 9.
