It’s a deal absolutely devastating blow for the Cubswho met up with Scott and aggressively pursued him. Looks like the Dodgers and Cubs were the first two choices for the pitcher, according to ESPN. Chicago reportedly offered Scott a multi-year deal, but it didn’t matter in the end.

Toronto is again missing out on a quality free agent. The Blue Jays were the main player in the sweepstakes to get Juan Soto this offseason, but it didn’t work out.

Los Angeles this offseason continues to pick up where it left off last season, when the team brought in Shohei Ohtani. The Dodgers beat out the Blue Jays for Ohtani, so this probably looks similar to Blue Jays fans.

The Dodgers have already beefed up their roster this offseason by agreeing to sign Japanese pitcher Rocky Sasaki. The team was long considered the favorite for Sasaki’s servicesalthough several teams placed on the pitcher.

The Dodgers won the 2024 World Series and now look all set to make the postseason again. Scott brings a lot of talent to the teamas well as a reliable hand in the bench.

In 2024, he worked as a closer for both the San Diego Padres and the Miami Marlins. He picked up 22 total saves while posting a 1.75 ERA. Scott has 55 career saves while playing for those clubs and the Baltimore Orioles.

In his career, Scott has a 3.56 ERA with an overall record of 31-24. His arm should help the Dodgers moving forward, who are now loaded with talent in the starting rotation and bullpen. Few National League teams can compete with the talent the Dodgers have acquired. A dynasty may be building in Los Angeles.

Now with Scott off the Cubs board it is expected to turn for Kyle Finnegan, for Northside Baseball. There is also interest in Kirby Yates and Paul Sjuald. Chicago is looking to rebuild after a disappointing 2024 campaign that saw the team go 83-79.

Spring training games for the Dodgers begin on February 20. Dodgers fans have to be thrilled with what the team has done in recent days.
