The Chiefs are getting positive injury news ahead of the Texans showdown

The Chiefs were pretty shaken up heading into Week 18 as Patrick Mahomes he had pain in his wrist, Isiah Pacheco had a rib injury, Chris Jones was nursing a calf and DJ Humphries had a hamstring strain. Kansas City rested most of its starters against Denver in the final regular season game. That strategy didn’t just work for the Chiefs, it helped the Broncos as well, as Denver needed a win in Week 18 to make the playoffs.
KC’s decision was easy to make given the team’s major injuries and the fact that the Chiefs had already locked up the top seed in the AFC heading into the season finale. Mahomes was dealing with a nagging ankle injury held in Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns. Although he left the game early, he did not miss a start until Week 18.

Clearly, Mahomes’ health is of utmost importance to the Chiefs. The three-time champion is already considered the favorite to win the Super Bowl MVP this season. However, he wasn’t the only noteworthy player hampered by a year-ending injury.
Running back Isiah Pacheco suffered a rib injury in a Week 17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pacheco was forced to leave the game in the second half due to illness and he was also given week 18 to rest.
On the defensive side of the ball, star DL Chris Jones injured his calf in Week 16 against the Tennessee Titans. The injury sidelined him for the final two weeks of the regular season. But now, with that time off and a bye week to further heal, Jones is back in training and ready to take over Houston Texas in the Divisional Round this weekend.
Doc Mahomes did not win a Pro Bowl 2024 in the middle of a statistical decline this season, the Chiefs looked as dominant as ever, falling to 15-1 before everyone rested in Week 18. Now the team will be fully healthy as it prepares to play the AFC South-winning Texans on Saturday afternoon.
