The the upcoming matchup between CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans vs. Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs for the AFC Divisional Round will be a big one. And the home side have received a significant update that includes one of their players in the secondary.

The Chiefs activation plan cornerback Jalen Watson from injured reserve and is playing with him against the Texans, a source told ESPN’s Jeff Fowler. He was sidelined with a broken ankle at the end of October.

“@BiNateTailor first on Watson’s anticipated return to the starting lineup. The Chiefs could monitor snaps depending on how he was feeling/playing. But he’s ready,” Fowler wrote.

Before the injury, Watson made six starts while breaking up six passes. In his absence, the Chiefs have split the duties between Nazi Johnson and Joshua Williams as they pair up with the starting cornerback opposite Trent McDuffie.

Coach Andy Reid believes that Watson will announce its influence when he takes the field, though he will be steady in the amount of reps he gives the cornerback back.

“He’s worked extremely hard to get to this point, first of all, and we’ll see how that goes in terms of game repetitions and all that.” But he sure worked hard to get to this point right here,” Reid said.

It will also mark for the first time, the Chiefs defense will be fully healthy this season, as defensive end Charles Omenihu put it.

“This will be the first time that everyone on defense is healthy and playing,” Omenihu he said on Wednesdayaccording to The Athletic. “It will be fine.” … We will be ready to go.”

Getting Watson on the field could spell trouble for CJ Stroud’s plans, especially if he does lean on star receiver Nico Collins to make plenty of catches passes during the game. Collins had seven catches for 122 yards and a touchdown against the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC Wild Card, meaning the Chiefs will use whatever cards they have to keep him.

Fighting for a spot in the AFC Championship for the third straight year, the Chiefs will host the Texans at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday at 4:30 PM ET.
