Steve Kerr sets the record straight on the Warriors’ “letting go” narrative
The The Golden State Warriors have become one of the most talked about teams in the NBA this season, and it wasn’t always for the best reasons. After a hot start, the Warriors have bounced back and are now fighting for a playoff spot in the Western Conference as the season approaches the halfway point.
On Wednesday night, the Warriors were finally able to get a hard-fought victory. Steve Kerr and Golden State went to Minnesota and managed to beat the Timberwolves 116-115 to get back to .500 on the season at 20-20. After the Kerr game, it’s fast leave alone any notion that the Warriors were giving up in the face of adversity, according to The Athletic’s Anthony Slater.
“I hope there’s no misperception that we’re not fighting and we’re not giving up and hopefully we can do everything possible to keep this going, because that’s what we’re doing.” It almost seems like the narrative has become The Warriors Relent. We are not giving in. We just won’t give away the future. They are two completely different things. We are fighting, you can see we have been competitive all year. We had a few hits, but for the most part our guys are competing like crazy.”

The The Warriors were carried by Stephen Curry on this, as on so many other nights. The superstar guard finished the game with 31 points, including a huge 3-pointer to give the Warriors a late lead and put the game in control.
Kerr’s comments stem from surrounding narratives comments Curry made after Monday night’s loss to the Toronto Raptors, where Curry essentially said the front office shouldn’t make any rash moves to improve the team right now that jeopardize the team’s future. Some people took that out of context and assumed Curry meant he didn’t want to improve the roster, which is not true.
At .500, the Warriors have moved back into 10th place in the Western Conference, which is currently a hot mess. In order to get into a more comfortable playoff position, Curry and company will have to run a little, which they have shown they are more than capable of doing. Maybe this big win over the Timberwolves will be enough for them to start another winning streak.
