Stephen Curry, Drake create viral moment in Warriors-Raptors game

Drake proves he still has NBA love. The rapper created a viral moment when he greeted Curry on the court during the game between the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors on Monday night, January 13. The game ended with a 101:100 victory for the Warriors against Drake’s Raptors.

Apart from the hug on the court, the two had a short chat and were all smiles. Along with a friendly hug, Drake Instagrammed Story that he did ready to hit the booth. “@raptors how long is my listening ban? I was born to comment,” he wrote over black headphones.

What is Drake’s relationship with LeBron James?

This interaction comes after Drake seemingly called out Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and other friends in his “Fighting Irish Freestyle.”

“The world fell in love with gimmicks, even my brothers got tickets / Looked like they loved every minute / Just know this s*t was personal for us, and it wasn’t just business / Analyzing patterns is a little fishy / N* ***s never been happy for me when I ran the digits,” Drake raps in the first verse explaining how he felt not only LeBron but other industry friends turned their backs on him during the 2024 rap beef with Kendrick Lamar. The line also refers to his friendship with DeMar DeRozan who appeared in the music video for Kendrick’s song “Not Like Us”.

Drake also deliberately underlined the anti-LeBron stance by referencing the watches they’ve traded in the past, as well as how they formed a brotherhood through fatherhood.

“Or when I’m still breaking world records, while gulping Guinness / Or when I get my fifth Maybach ’cause it’s a different color / ‘Member ve tradin’ watches?’ I gave you that Arabic dial, you gave me a numbered edition / You’d even check my son like a pediatrician / Of course you convinced the gang this s*o was rooted in love when it wasn’t,” Drake rapped.

Curry is also mentioned in the rap beef because Kendrick warned him and LeBron to keep their families away from Drake.

“Hey LeBron, keep the family away, hey Curry, keep the family away/For anyone who embodies love for their kids, keep the family away/And they’re looking at you if you stand by him, keep the family away/I try to shoot everybody perv who lives, keep the family,” Kendrick raps on “Meet the Grahams.”

Charlamagne Tha God and Andrew Schulz recently commented on Drake’s new song on their “Brilliant Idiots” podcast.

“But you would be angry if you saw your friend off and you saw your homie go, ‘bop, bop, bop, bop, bop.’ You know what I’m saying?” Charlemagne said referring to the lyrics of “Not Like Us” at 1:45.

“No one told you to put those f*cking names, bro,” Charlemagne told Drake directly.

As for Schultz, he believes it’s a good prospect for Drake to lean on this beef with LeBron from the rap battle in 2024. “People are talking about something that he’s not losing the battle for,” Schultz said. “Also, this is the first music he released after the battle that people are at least talking about.”
