This season, he is averaging 24.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, four blocks, 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He is shooting 47.5 percent from the field, including 35.1 percent from beyond the arc.
He currently has 18 double-doubles and one triple-double and is a few months away scoring a career-high 50 points against the Washington Wizards. He reached the 20-point mark 25 times, showing growth in his ability to put the ball in the hoop at high speed.
The Spurs have a record of 19-21 and are currently 12th in the Western Conference. They are a game behind the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors for one of the playoff spots.
They are 4-6 in their last ten contests, indicating a need to find consistency in winning after back-to-back losses to Memphis. This is where Wembanjama comes into the equation, who should lead the Spurs through a busy stretch of the NBA season as they reach the midway point.
