Scottie Pippen picks his NBA GOAT, and it’s not MJ or LeBron
Former NBA legends It appears that Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen have split up since their days dominating the league along with the Chicago Bulls. Pippen has frequently attacked Jordan in the media, some of which reportedly stemmed from his dislike of the way he was portrayed in the 2020 documentary The Last Dance.
Now Pippen is back with another fiery NBA scene, and it probably won’t satisfy fans of Jordan or his longtime rival compared to the GOAT LeBron Jamesaccording to the PBD Podcast, via HoopsHipe.
“You can’t ask me who is the GOAT between LeBron and Michael. “None of them are GOATS,” Pippen said. “Both of them won differently. You can’t put them on top of the top. Magic Johnsonto me he is a bigger GOAT than anyone. Because of how he led, how he gathered the whole team, how when he wasn’t the best scorer in the game, Karim came in as a starting center and played in a position that no one even knew he could play.
A worthy candidate
Magic Johnson is certainly on the short list of NBA players who have a legitimate claim to at least be mentioned with LeBron James and Michael Jordan in the GOAT discussion.

Johnson won five championships during his storied tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers, including one in his first year. His pairing with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar created one of the deadliest duos in NBA history, one that consistently clashed with Larry Bird’s Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals.
Of course, up to this point, most NBA fans have narrowed the discussion down to current Lakers star LeBron James and Pippen’s former teammate Michael Jordan, with whom he won six NBA championships.
However, Pippen has not hidden some of his more controversial opinions over the years, and this would certainly fall into that category.
It’s unclear at this point if this was just another veiled shot at Jordan or indeed Pippen’s honest opinion, but it certainly won’t help bury any hatchets between the two former teammates.
