PGA Tour 2K25 cover clowned in the middle of selections outside of Tiger Woods

The PGA Tour saw a fantastic finish at the Sony Open, with Nick Taylor defies the odds to win. An eagle with a chip on 18 forced a playoff where he eventually came out on top.

A day later, the cover for PGA Tour 2K25 was revealed. It will come as no surprise that Tiger Woods graced the cover. But the other two names left many fans online scratching their heads.

Woods is joined by Max Homa and Matt Fitzpatrick. It’s the first time since 2K21 that someone else has appeared on the cover of a video game. Justin Thomas was the lone golfer on this cover. For most years, it was just Tiger Woods, with different versions each year.

It’s not surprising to see others on the front page. But Homa and Fitzpatrick are interesting choices.

Incidentally, Homa and Fitzpatrick ranking 44th and 45th placethat is, on the official world golf ranking list.

Homa does make some sense though. He is a member of Team USA in the Ryder Cup and is a fan favorite on the PGA Tour. His honest, comedic personality often comes across on social media.

Fitzpatrick, however, is a real slap in the face. Don’t take my word for it. People on X, formerly Twitter, share similar sentiments.

“There aren’t many golfers more boring than Fitzpatrick,” one fan wrote.

“No one moves the needle like Matt Fitzpatrick 😉,” joked another.

“Scotty, Xander, and Brison… those are the ones I want to play in a game of golf,” chimed in user X Tut.

There were obviously many other choices. Bryson DeChambeau has a huge following on social media and is helping to expand the game to a younger audience. But he’s playing on LIV, probably taking away any chance he has of showing up.

But Scottie Scheffler and/or Xander Schauffele would also make more sense. Scheffler is coming off a historic season hasn’t been seen since Tiger Woods’ prime. Schauffele won two major competitions in 2024.

But Homa and Fitpatrick are players Tiger Woods’ TGL League that debuted last weekwith the first in the Tiger team.
