Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski sends a message to Josh McDaniels Mike Vrabel
New England The Patriots have found their next head coach in Mike Vrabel. As he tries to fill out his coaching staff, the Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski there is one name Vrabel should target immediately.
Gronkowski approved the return of Josh McDaniels as New England’s offensive coordinator. Having served in the same role for more than a decade, Gronk believes McDaniels is familiar with the organization would be a blessingvia Fox Sports.
“If I’m Mike Vrabel, the first thing I’d do is call Josh McDaniel — a familiar face to Patriots fans — and hire him as offensive coordinator as soon as possible,” Gronk said.
McDaniels joined the Patriots as a personnel assistant in 2021. He worked his way up to offensive coordinator in 2006. After brief stints with the Denver Broncos and then the St. Louis Rams, McDaniels returned to the Patriots in 2021. He served as the team’s Offensive Coordinator until 2021, when he left to become the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.

McDaniels was part of all six Patriots Super Bowl winning teams during the Bill Belichick era. New England is about to enter a new one under Vrabel. Still, bringing McDaniels back would give the Patriots a sense of their roots and a signal caller who knows how to succeed in New England.
Mike Vrabel knows how to do it himself, winning three Super Bowls with the team. As he steps into his new head coaching role, Rob Gronkowski thinks he has all the tools he needs to succeed.
“The New England Patriots they got their guy in the Patriots, big Mike Vrabel,” Gronkowski said. “This guy will hold everyone in the organization accountable, from the coaching staff to the players.” He will hold himself accountable and even the office he holds accountable. This guy has knowledge, he has power. He’s going to be great.”
Vrabel will enter the script with Drake May and plenty of room to work. Adding McDaniels as his OC could be the start of an eye-opening offseason.
