Tuesday night’s Big Ten college basketball schedule includes this intriguing game between Ohio State and Wisconsin.

Ohio State released a big fish – or rather, a big duck – a few days ago. The Buckeyes had a late lead against Oregon and led for most of the second half, but let the game go in the final two minutes and lost. Oregon is now 5-1 in games decided by four points or less this season. Ohio State is one of several teams that outplayed Oregon for large stretches of the game this season, but couldn’t land the final, final shot. Penn State then met the same fate against Oregon last week. Ohio State missed a chance to beat a highly ranked opponent and add to its NCAA Tournament resume. Ohio State can’t miss big opportunities to win. The Buckeyes will have to break through at some point and also win the Big Ten games they should win. They survived a wild overtime game in Minnesota, but they know they’ll have to be better if they want to win enough Big Ten games to feel safe going into Selection Sunday and back into March Madness.

Wisconsin had a solid season with head coach Greg Gard. What is new and refreshing about this Wisconsin team is that it is not the typical team from seasons past. This has been a fun Wisconsin team to watch in many games this season — maybe not every game, but more often than in previous seasons. Wisconsin scored 116 points in a 31-point win over Iowa. The Badgers surpassed the 100-point mark earlier in the season in a win over the Arizona Wildcats. Wisconsin is very tough at home. The Badgers have won their last two conference games at home. Wisconsin needs to continue to defend its home court to put itself in position to contend with Michigan, Michigan State, Illinois and other Big Ten teams in the mix for the conference championship.

Why Ohio State will cover the spread/win

Ohio State played 37 really good minutes against Oregon. It didn’t complete the win, but it came close. Oregon is currently projected to be a top four seed in the NCAA Tournament in 2025. If Ohio State could come extremely close to beating Oregon – arguably a better team than Wisconsin – the Buckeyes could certainly beat the Badgers. Still, OSU doesn’t even have to beat Wisconsin all the way. The Buckeyes get almost six full points. This is the right side.

Why Wisconsin will cover the spread/win

The Badgers have been humming at home, playing really well on offense and making it difficult for their opponents to keep up. It is not easy to bet against this team at home.
