It’s time to continue our college basketball odds series with the New Mexico-San Jose State prediction and selection. Find out how to watch New Mexico – San Jose State.

This is one of those rare cases where our college basketball betting roundup is a rematch game we reviewed earlier this season. When these teams met in December, New Mexico was a 19.5-point favorite over San Jose State, with a combined score of 150.5 to jump to -115. San Jose State covered pretty easily. This was a one point game at half time. San Jose State stayed close in the second half before New Mexico was able to finish the game strong and win by six, 83-77. A total of 160 points hit quite comfortably. We can take everything in this second leg and match the first game between these teams.

Keep in mind that in December, New Mexico was still developing as a team. The Lobos were able to hit their stride in Mountain West Conference play, coming up with big defensive stops and sequences to complement their offense. UNM also hit the buzzer beater to pull off an incredible win over Nevada. The Lobos are living well, but they’re doing things they haven’t done in previous seasons under coach Richard Pitino. The hunger and desperation in New Mexico is deeper and more significant than it has been in previous seasons. This team from New Mexico makes sacrifices for themselves. Players will bat for each other, not just for themselves. This team doesn’t dominate most of its opponents (although it did at San Diego State last Saturday), but it outplays them and makes key plays when it really counts.

San Jose State is coming off a road win in a Mountain West game. However, the cautionary note about that win is that it came at Air Force, who many believe is the weakest team in the conference. If SJSU wants to be seen as a contender and serious player in the Mountain West, it needs to break through and beat one of the better teams in the league. New Mexico, in this rematch, gives SJSU another golden opportunity.

Why New Mexico will cover the spread/win

New Mexico is consistently winning, which creates more confidence and a growing sense of confidence with each game. Going on the road won’t shake the Lobos or throw them off guard. They just choked out a really good San Diego team. If they can do that, they can beat a relatively weak San Jose team by at least 10 points. It’s not really an absence; it’s a safe statement, something bettors (like risk takers) can appreciate.

Why San Jose State will cover the spread/win

The Spartans covered the spread easily the last time they faced New Mexico (up by more than 10 points). They can certainly do the same thing again, this time at home.

New Mexico-San Jose State Final Forecast and Selection

We’re leaning against SJSU, but we’re not entirely convinced the Spartans will cover two spreads against the same opponent (New Mexico) this season. Pass.

New Mexico-San Jose State final forecast and pick: San Jose State +9.5
