Mike Vrabel of the Patriots is shockingly not ruling out a trade for AJ Brown

A new era has come for New England Patriots like Mike Vrabel took over as head coach of the franchise after they broke up with Jarrod Mayo after just one season.

Vrabel — the former head coach of the Tennessee Titans — wouldn’t be opposed to reuniting with AJ Brown, the best wide receiver from his time in Nashville.

“Yeah, we’ll see… I’m proud of his development, his personal development.” And he’s working on himself…He’s a passionate player and I love him to death. And I have a very, very close relationship with him.”

Brown, who was traded from the Titans to the Philadelphia Eagles before the 2022 season, fell just short of the 1,000-yard mark in his six NFL seasons. In 2021 – when Vrabel led the Titans to the No. 1 seed in the AFC – Brown had just 869 receiving yards and five touchdowns, a season low in both categories, with 63 receptions.

Brown was a valuable part of the Eagles’ offense during the 2024-25 season, catching 67 passes, making him a favorite target of quarterback Jalen Hurts, for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns.

With the Patriots looking to return as a perennial contender in the AFC, Brown could be the type of player to help speed up the process.

Who will be Mike Vrabel’s OC in Nev England?

With a new head coach in place, who will be at the helm of the Patriots offense when the 2025 season begins?

Vrabel confirmed on VEEI that Josh McDaniels, formerly an assistant in New England, on a list of job applicants.

“It’s a long list,” Vrabel said. “There’s a long list, and, you know… I had a relationship with Joshand I’ve had relationships with other offensive and defensive coaches that we’re going to interview and that we’re looking to bring in here.”

McDaniels could be a good option as the Patriots try to establish a new offensive identity.
