Mavericks’ Jason Kidd calls out refs for big goalies saying Pelicans game is “costly”

The Dallas Mavericks was stripped of the Pelicans’ win against the New Pelicans because of NBA referees. The 119-116 loss in New Orleans did not leave the head coach Jason Kidd pleased to say the least. He explained via ESPN Fr constant criticism official.

“The league wants to get it right,” Kidd said. “Judges have a difficult job. They obviously didn’t get it right and it may have cost us the game.”

Kidd is referring to the play in which Mavericks guard Spencer Dinwiddie went up for a layup and the Pelicans’ Trey Murphy III blocked him off the glass. However, the ball touched the backboard first before Murphy stepped on it. That would have resulted in a goalie call, but it wasn’t called.

Dallas fell to 22-19, and the Pelicans picked up their 10th win of the season. It left visible moments of frustration throughout the team.

Mavericks HC Jason Kidd’s comments are an ongoing issue

Kidd is not the first to have problems with the refereeing teams this season. For example, the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers JJ Redick slammed the refs for the outrageous call earlier in January. Plus, it’s also not the first time the Mavericks head coach has had public issues with officials.

In the NBA Finals, Kidd was vocal about the controversial call on Mavericks forward PJ Washington it cost them the game. Unfortunately for Coach Dallas, times have not changed. Although the officials have a difficult job trying to call fouls at the speed of the game, certain calls are unacceptable.

For example, a goalie call is easy to make, especially if the referee is under the basket. However, officials have a tougher job than most think. Regardless, that doesn’t lessen their criticism from head coaches and even players around the league.
