LSU lands at NC State Security on the transfer portal


LSU football aggressively attacked the transfer portal this offseason. The Tigers and the head coach Brian Kelly they weren’t done Monday, chasing the North Carolina State star.

Tamarcus Coolei Wolf Pack Security transmission is expected at LSU, according to ESPN’s Max Olson. Cooley brings both star power and ball-handling skills to Baton Rouge.

Cooley has broken up six passes and grabbed three interceptions in nine starts this season. He also piled up 39 total tackles.

He finished his career at NC State putting up season-best numbers. Cooley tallied nine tackles, four solo stops and two interceptions against East Carolina in the Go Bowling Military Bowl.

Kelly and his LSU staff created the best portal in the country would 247Sports. The Tigers have restocked their roster with past power conference talent, plus former highly ranked recruits coming out of high school. Kelly reached out to college veterans to support both sides of the football.

Edge rusher Patrick Payton is one of the high-profile additions. He goes from Florida State to LSU as a four-star prospect. Payton brings a combination of 6-foot-5, 250 pounds of size and speed to Baton Rouge.

Even past Southeastern Conference talent moved on to Kelly and LSU. Four-star tight end Donovan Green is headed from Texas A&M to the Tigers. Two more four-star defensive backs in offensive tackle Jack Pyburn and cornerback Ja’Keem Jackson are making the jump from Florida to LSU. Mississippi State quarterback Michael Van Buren Jr. is another SEC rival joining the Tigers.

Even a couple of SEC rookies lost talent to LSU. Oklahoma watched as TE Bower Sharp and wide receiver Nick Anderson left for Baton Rouge. Texas lost defensive lineman Sidir Mitchell — who committed to LSU before the Longhorns made it to the College Football Playoff semifinals.
