LSU football player Kyren Lacy turned himself in to police after his role in a fatal car accident



Former LSU running back Kyren Lacy turned himself in to police Sunday night after causing a car accident and fleeing the scene on Dec. 17. Louisiana State Police press release described the accidentvia ESPN.

“While Lacey was improperly passing other vehicles, the driver of the northbound pickup truck braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the oncoming Dodge,” the statement said.

“A 2017 Kia Cadenza was traveling behind the pickup, the driver of which swerved to the left to avoid an oncoming Dodge Charger.” As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid hitting the Dodge, it crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2017 Kia Sorento.

A 78-year-old man died in the accident. Lacey is charged with involuntary manslaughter, felony hit and run with death and negligent operation of a vehicle. The 2024 All-SEC second-team honoree was jailed and then released on $151,000 bail after turning himself in.

Lacy, who finished with 58 catches for 866 yards and nine touchdowns last season, declared for the NFL draft on Dec. 19, two days after the accident. Louisiana State Police had was in contact with The 24-year-old and his attorney as of Friday after serving an arrest warrant, via ESPN’s Mark Schlabach.

Then Lacia’s agent Rocky Arcenauk made a statement on Friday evening, via VDSU 6 news.

“We are aware of the allegations that have been made in relation to Kieren Lacey and we want to take this opportunity to address them. First and foremost, Kiren is fully cooperating with the authorities. “We firmly believe that the facts will ultimately reveal the truth, but we respect the need for a full and thorough investigation,” Arsenault said.

We recognize the concerns and questions that may arise from these recent allegations. We want to assure anyone affected, directly or indirectly, that this matter is taken very seriously and that we are committed to handling it responsibly. “Out of respect for the investigation and everyone involved, we will not be making any further comment at this time,” he continued.
