Landing Taylor Hall early before the 2025 NHL trade deadline

Furthermore, former Hart Trophy winner Taylor Hall was slated to return after the veteran winger missed most of the 2023-24 season through injury.

However, these moves largely failed. Chicago is 14-26-2 after losing to the Detroit Red Wings on Friday night. The Blackhawks are the worst team in the NHL dotted. In fact, they are the only team that hasn’t broken the 30-point mark at this point in the season.

Once again, Chicago is getting ready to sell on NHL Trade Deadline. And Hall is an interesting option as a pending free agent. The veteran winger is not the player he was when he won the Hart Trophy as league MVP. However, he is proving to be a solid presence who can add to the attack. He has eight goals and 21 points in 42 games this year.

Hala brings many qualities that competitive teams are sure to covet. His pending free agent status will surely attract such teams as well. A trade involving the former Hart Trophy winner is a real possibility this year. With that in mind, here are two early landing spots for Taylor Hall ahead of the 2025 NHL trade deadline.

The Devils could be reunited with Taylor Hall

Taylor Hall won the Hart Trophy back in 2018. Team he played for? The New Jersey Devils. Hall joined the Devils in 2016 as part of the infamous one-for-one trade involving Adam Larsson and the Edmonton Oilers. In 2024-25, the two sides could reunite under different circumstances.

The Devils are looking to add depth to their composition. Players like Ianni Gourde make a lot of sense for the Devils during this trade deadline season. However, Hall also fits what New Jersey is looking for. They need to score more goals. Although Hall’s goal total has dipped this season, he could rebound with a much better supporting cast.

The Devils are one of the best teams in the NHL right now. New Jersey is firmly in the mix for a playoff spot via the Metropolitan Division. Adding more points could help solidify their playoff hopes as the season progresses.

Hall is likely playing on the third line for the Devils this time around. Again, he’s not an MVP-level player at this stage of his career. Still, New Jersey doesn’t need him to be their franchise power forward. They need him to improve the offensive depth, which the Blackhawks forward can do quite well.

Stars, Blackhawks could change

The Dallas Stars looking to add to their defense around the 2025 NHL trade deadline. Losing Chris Tanev in the offseason turned out to be quite crucial. However, the Stars could also add depth up front with star forward Tyler Seguin potentially out for the season.

Taylor Hall could be the right fit for the Star in this case. Hall won’t replace the nearly point per game Dallas lost when Seguin went down with an injury. However, he would provide the needed scoring depth.

Furthermore, Hall could be an important voice for some of the Stars’ younger players. Logan Stankoven has cooled off after looking like a Calder Trophy contender earlier in the season. Furthermore, Wyatt Johnston is having a disappointing season, although he has been playing better of late. Hall mentored Connor Bedard with the Blackhawks, and could help bring in Johnston and Stankoven.

The Stars won the Western Conference Finals two years in a row. Now they want to make it to the Stanley Cup Finals. Hall may not be the last piece of the puzzle, but it could prove to be important.
