The game carries Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant during his infamous “Achilles Game”, Nike The Kobe 8 Elite will be auctioned off through Sotheby’s in just over a week.

On April 12, 2013, the Golden State Warriors visited the Los Angeles Lakers with just two games remaining in the NBA regular season. Kobe Bryant and the Lakers battled for playoff position, but it was clear that Bryant favored his injured left leg throughout the game. During the fourth quarter, Bryant went down with what was later known as a torn Achilles tendon, effectively ending his season. However, he didn’t leave the game before making two free throws on his injured leg in what was truly a career-defining moment for the Black Mamba.

The shoes were the eighth installation in Kobe Bryant’s signature line with Nike. Throughout his career, Kobe Bryant has favored a low cut on his basketball shoes to allow for mobility and fluid movement on the court. However, after the injury, Bryant and Nike created Nike Kobe 9 Eliteextra high sneakers to strengthen Bryant’s surgically repaired tendon.
The Nike Kobe 8 Elite “Achilles Game” is set to be auctioned via Sotheby’s on February 7th, 2025. The shoes are rumored to fetch between $600,000 and $900,000 according to various sources. Interested parties can bid on the Sotheby’s website for a chance to own a genuine piece of NBA history.
