Kansas HC Bill Self painfully admits after brutal collapse against Houston
Kansas basketball and head coach Bill Self entered Allen Fieldhouse with a chance to shake up the top 10 in the rankings. The Jayhawks and Self suffered a painful double overtime loss to No. 7 Houston 92-86. The Cougars even erased a 10-point deficit to shut out Self and Kansas.
No. 12 Kansas had more chances to put down UH. The Jayhawks took a 38-31 halftime lead on their home court. But the Cougars were never better for the next three periods after that.
The head coach of the national champion shared some painful confessions about the loss after the game, one per Matt Tait of Wave the Wheat on the Perpetual Sports Network.
“Self said the only home game he can remember hurting like this was Acie Lo’s game against Texas A&M, forever ago,” Tait posted on X.
The two-time national champion coach was referring to a February 2007 contest in which Law scored the final five points in the Aggies’ 69-66 victory. The Lions fell by 23 points that night.
