Jimmy Butler next team odds: Suns become favorites

recently, Miami Heat team president Pat Riley said in a statement that the six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler will remain in Miami for the foreseeable future.

“We’re not trading Jimmy Butler,” were Riley’s exact words.

However, things seem to have gone downhill since then.

DraftKings Sportsbook has released odds for Butler’s next team after the Feb. 6 trade deadline. Let’s take a look at those January 7 odds.

The next regular season minute played after the trade deadline for which NBA team?

Suns: +175 (bet $10 to win a total of $27.50)
Heat: +225 (bet $10 to win a total of $32.50)
Grizzlies: +400 (bet $10 to win $50 total)
Pelicans: +400 (bet $10 to win $50 total)
Rockets: +500 (bet $10 to win $60 total)

Well, this is becoming more of a whirlwind by the day, as the Grizzlies were favored a bit earlier on Tuesday.

Now that teams are starting to learn that Butler would not re-sign with select franchisesall signs are beginning to point to Phoenix.

Riley’s statement that he didn’t trade Butler came after a recent ESPN report that Butler preferred to be traded before the Feb. 6 deadline, with the Warriors and Suns at the top of his preferred destinations.

But in the time since Riley’s statement, the two sides — Butler and the Heat — appeared to have drifted further apart in terms of their working relationship.

And it all came to an end during Butler’s recent postgame press conferencewhen asked if he could recapture the joy of the Miami game.

“Probably not,” Butler replied.

Shortly after, the Heat suspended Butler for seven games and said the organization would listen to offers for the disgruntled star.

On the season, the 35-year-old Butler is averaging 17.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists. In six seasons with the Heat, he led Miami to the NBA Finals twice. The Heat lost to the Lakers in 2019-20 and then to the Nuggets in 2022-23.

The Heat currently sit in ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings. Phoenix is 12th in the West.
