Ben Simmons Injury Status Against Kings
Simmons fouled out late in Saturday’s 106-97 loss at the Miami Heat. After the three-time All-Star missed the Nets’ previous three games due to illness, the team said he is available against the Heat. However, he was ruled out minutes before tip-off after experiencing lower back pain in the warm-up.
The question mark puts Simmons in danger of missing his fifth straight game and his ninth in Brooklyn’s last 14.

Simmons was effective after stepping in as the Nets’ starting point guard following the Dennis Schroeder trade. Over his last 11 appearances, he’s averaging 8.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 8.2 assists in 28.5 minutes per game. Brooklyn was marginally competitive during his minutes, posting a -4.5 box plus-minus, the third-highest among players averaging over 20 minutes per game.
The Nets have been cautious about injuries lately as they aim to improve their draft position. A 2-14 gap dropped them to the bottom of the table. Entering Monday’s matchup, Brooklyn is two games behind the New Orleans Pelicans for the third-best draft lottery pick.
Cam Johnson will also miss Kings match. It will mark his third straight absence and 10th in 13 games with an ankle injury.
Cam Thomas and Trendon Watford remain sidelined with hamstring injuries. Thomas has missed the Nets’ last 12 games after aggravating a hamstring injury that kept him out a month earlier this season. Watford has been out since December 16 after aggravating the hamstring that kept him out for the first six weeks of the season.
The Kings enter Monday’s game on a two-game losing streak after going 10-1 under interim head coach Doug Christie.
