Heat’s Bam Adebayo on preventing season from going “***” amid Jimmy Butler drama

As it is the drama continues with the Miami Heat and Jimmy Butlereveryone else on the team still has a season ahead of them to worry about as he stressed Bam Adebayo. While it is The playing status of the Heat star is up in the air for Wednesday night, he spoke with Marc J. Spears from AndScape.

Now more than ever, there has to be a locker room leader for Miami as the outside noise gets louder and louder by the day with the massive amount of speculation surrounding Butler. Adebayo is just the kind of person who can do that because he has talked about not wanting the season to go to waste, even though he said that in NSFV’s response.

“Everybody needs somebody to look up to,” Adebayo said. “They need that voice, that one voice where we go into the trenches and it gets dark.” People lose their way. You need someone to be that enforcer to understand that we can still win. We still have enough.”

“We can’t let this season go to s— for the young guys,” Adebayo continued. “I watch them because young guys are trying to get a job.” Guys are trying to be something in this league and it’s like you can’t let outside noise get in the way of that. But for me, it’s really getting everyone on the same page and understanding that we can still win.”

The the broken relationship between Het and Butler consisted of a lack of commitment and contract disputes that Adebayo said the team knew was “his job.” The Heat captain Adebayo would call Butler “one of my guys,” but make sure to mention how the team needs to “worry about getting these wins.”

“You realize it’s his job at the end of the day, and I’ll leave it at that,” Adebayo said. “JB (Butler) is one of my guys. So, for me, we give him space and let him and management deal with it, get involved in it. We care about these wins because at the end of the day, no matter what happens with him and management, somebody has to play these games.

“You still have to go out there and win,” Adebayo continued. “It’s the best thing for us to take our mind off that situation.” Come out here and get some wins.”

Either way, the team is 20-18, which puts them in seventh place in the Eastern Conference as The Heat face the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night to wrap up a six-game road trip on the West Coast. Butler is eligible to return from his suspension on Jan. 17 when Miami hosts the Denver Nuggets.
