Eagles’ Nick Sirianni praises Saquon Barkley’s unselfish play against Packers

In a moment during their Wild Card win over the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley made an unselfish play that probably won them the game. And he follows the game, the head coach Nick Sirianni he had nothing but positive words for Eagles running back, according to PHLI’s Zach Berman at Ks.

“When you can kneel there, you slide because we’ve seen a few things happen,” Siriani said. “I mean, again, (Dallas Goedert) had one in the Washington game, I believe in 2021. He caught a little dog in the flat. Bam, it slipped. We knelt three knees, won the game. Again, that’s great. Now, you get one out wide and he could have scored, but you take three knees and you win the game.

“You never want to lose on something that you can completely control by going down.” So that’s something we practice. That’s something we talk about. That’s something Saquon asked before entering the event. ‘Hey, are we in no mas? I’m like, ‘Yeah, yeah, we are.’ That means put the first one down and go down. He executed it perfectly. That will be the footage we show, like we show Dallas, and like we show everyone else forever.

So even though Barkley could have scored a touchdown and extended the Eagles’ lead over the Packers, he took an unselfish approach, going down and setting up a winning formation.

Instead, Barkley understood the risk and reward of putting himself in a somewhat meaningless game in Week 18, only to potentially get hurt before the Eagles’ playoff run.

Nothing they did in Week 18 could have secured them #1 seed in the NFCso instead of risking an injury a week before the playoffs, barkley joined the other starters on the sidelines to end the regular season.
