Eagles’ Nick Sirianni demolishes critics for calling out AJ Brown
When cameras Wild Card Weekend caught AJ Brown reading a book Inner Excellence on the margins during The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Green Bay Packersit made certified Philly haters lose their minds.
Some simply knew it was in response to catching just one pass for 10 yards, others took it as a burn on the Packers for not even being worth watching, and still others went to Amazon to buy the book, which has become a bestseller overnight as a result.
Asked if it’s okay for the Eagles Pro Bowl receiver to read from the sideline instead of covering the game in VIP Morning show, Nick Sirianni he said yes he was destroying all haters who used the video to defame Brown or his program as a whole.

“I’m definitely fine with that. The crazy thing is that he’s been reading this book on the side for a long time. The camera just happened to see it this week. Some guys pray in between, some guys mediate in between. AJ reads in between. Whatever these guys have to do to put their minds in a place where they can play with great detail and great effort, I fully encourage them to do it. I love AJ. He’s such a great teammate. I saw Jahan Dotson say something defending AJ and I thought that was great too. Another example of our teammates defending each other,” Siriani said via VIP.
“We don’t do any research and jump to the conclusion, ‘Oh, he must be unhappy.’ That, to me, is lazy. Everyone needs to understand why he is doing it before they move on to condemning the man. Because the man, AJ Brown, is a great, great, great person. Man AJ Brown is the best receiver — and I’m going to say it without hesitation — the best receiver this city has ever seen … and what he does.”
While some might say that Siriani is simply pandering, wanting to avoid further outbursts from Brown after generating more than enough negative headlines for comments about his usage earlier in the season, frankly, that seems unlikely. Throughout the season, Sirianni preached unity, he hit for his guys, and he put on almost every Eagles player who did anything good, even if it was nothing more than being a good teammate. Even as opposing fan bases scoff at their favorite trade for Brown, including several coming from New England, it’s clear Sirianna has his back when it matters, even if it doesn’t always result in double-digit target games. A pro bowler would like a steady diet.
