A busy Tuesday night in college basketball includes this ACC game in Atlanta, as Clemson visits Georgia Tech. Clemson is coming off an Elite Eight run under coach Brad Brownell, who was at Clemson but managed to produce a strong season just as the natives began to grow restless and grumble about his work performance. Brownell has been inconsistent for a long time, but he improved just as his tenure was on the verge of losing steam. Brownell’s 2024 Elite Eight solidified its position at Clemson. He’s not going anywhere, and what’s more, it’s for the good of the school. Brownell has survived the job, with more resilience and poise than many of his peers.

Clemson is a quality NCAA Tournament team. The Tigers have suffered a few setbacks, such as a loss to South Carolina and a recent road loss to Louisville, but they beat Kentucky and have some good results on their resume. Clemson should be able to finish in the top four of the ACC. The Tigers should be able to contend against the middle and bottom half of the ACC, and last Saturday’s decisive win over Florida State is a representative example. Clemson has more talent and size than most teams in the ACC – not Duke, but probably everyone else. Clemson should be able to win a lot of games in the ACC. As long as the Tigers don’t stumble more than once or twice, they should be able to get back to the Big Dance and see their name in the bracket come Selection Week.

Georgia Tech is licking its wounds after losing to SMU last weekend on the road. The game was never close. Georgia Tech burst out of the box and couldn’t recover. After the no-show, it’s important that the Yellow Jackets come back with a strong, energetic performance and — win or lose — show some pride. This program is not in a good place. The Yellow Jackets need to use these next two months to improve their culture and find a few things to hang their hat on for the upcoming offseason. Georgia Tech needs to present itself as a respectable program that good players should want to go to as part of the tradition of ACC basketball.

Why Clemson will cover the spread/win

Clemson is much better than Georgia Tech. Clemson just crushed Florida State. Georgia Tech just got blown out by SMU. The gap between these two teams is significant, making the 5.5 point difference seem awfully small, almost like it’s a trap. Almost. Not really. This is a Clemson game all the way.

Why Georgia Tech will cover the spread/win

Georgia Tech will play dramatically better in this game than it did against SMU. The yellow jackets will bounce back, and that will be enough for them to cover the spread.

Final Clemson-Georgia Tech Prediction & Pick

Clemson is good, Georgia Tech is not, and the spread is only 5.5 points. Take Clemson and don’t think about it.

Final Clemson-Georgia Tech Prediction and Pick: Clemson -5.5
