Broncos’ Patrick Surtain II reveals Von Miller’s special interaction before, after Bills game
Patrick Surtain II and Denver The Broncos finished the season in the hands Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round. However, at least Surtain was able to find a silver lining by meeting the Broncos legend.
Surtain said he and the Bills linebacker From Miller had strong interactions both before and after the game. He’ll never forget how Miller treated him when the cornerback was coming in as a rookie, via DNVR’s Zach Stevens.
“Vaughn, that’s my guy,” Surtain said. “When I came in, he really brought me in and taught me how, taught me the ropes.”
When Surtain joined the Broncos in 2021, Miller had already been named to the Pro Bowl eight times. He won a Super Bowl with Denver in 2016. Finally, he etched his names into the Broncos’ defensive history books.

The quarterback seemed to take his advice to heart. Surtain was named to three consecutive Pro Bowl games and was named All-Pro twice. He wants to create a legacy similar to Miller’s when all is said and done.
On Sunday, however, Patrick Surtain couldn’t do much to come out on top. The Broncos took an early 7-0 lead. However, the Bills scored 31 unanswered points to earn a thrilling 31-7 victory. The cornerback collected five tackles in the loss.
While it was a quick exit from the postseason, it was also Surtain’s first time in the playoffs since joining Denver. The team will look to regroup and come back stronger in 2025.
Surtain now assumed the role of his mentor. The corner will be in charge of bringing the new kids up to speed. Ultimately, he will be looked upon as one of the team’s greatest leaders, especially on the defensive side of the ball. So even though the outcome of Sunday’s playoff game didn’t go the way he had hoped, Surtain still had to give Miller his flowers for helping him get to the position he’s in now.
