Alex Cora breaks up Rafael Devers’ trade for the Red Sox



Boston Red Soc the manager Alex Cora he wants his third baseman to stay where he is. Cora rejects the idea movements Raphael Devers away from playing third base, according to the Athletics.

Cora and the Red Sox front office are trying to manage the roster it will get the club back to the World Series. Boston had a disappointing 2024 season, by franchise standards. The Red Sox finished the year 81-81 overall.

Devers had a solid season for the Red Sox. He posted a .272 batting average while hitting 28 home runs. He also drove in 83 runs, out of a total of 143 hits. That still wasn’t enough to help the club pass New York and Baltimore in the division.

Kora has managed the team for four seasons in his current tenure at the club. He was also the manager from 2018-2019, when he won the World Series in Boston.

Boston worked hard this offseason to sign some quality free agents. Boston is one of the teams that famously lost to striker Juan Soto. Soto signed with the Mets, but the Red Sox really wanted him.

Boston solidified its starting pitching this offseason. The The Red Sox have signed former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehlerand also traded for hurler Garrett Crochet. Buehler played a key role in LA’s World Series victory over the New York Yankees in 2024. He finished the season with a 5.38 ERA, but pitched magnificently at the end of the year.

Hopefully, Devers’ offense will be a solid compliment to Buehler and the pitching staff. He had four consecutive seasons with at least 500 appearances for the club. Devers has been with Boston since the 2017 season. He is a lifetime .279 hitter and has 200 career home runs.

Red Sox fans are hoping that with Devers and Cora at the helm, Boston can have a very special season in 2025.
