Bears fans will love Ben Johnson’s support of Caleb Williams
As it is Chicago Bears look to change the narrative in the NFC South next season, the newly hired head coach Ben Johnson it already raises questions about what the offense will look like under his proven skills and knowledge.
Johnson, who has been one of the coveted names among free agent head coaches for months, wasted no time getting back to work with his new team. At first, the reflector is on Caleb Williamsand Johnson’s plans to land the No. 1 overall pick in 2024.
“I don’t know Caleb like that yet,” Johnson said. “But I’m really encouraged by what I’ve seen on tape from him so far this season.” On the opposing side, I definitely felt his presence there.”
“He has an abundance of talent. I can’t wait to start working with him.”
Williams had an underwhelming rookie campaign, throwing for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns and six interceptions, with a 62.5 completion rate.

Bears fans should expect a big turnaround for Williams, with Johnson now at the helm. While the Bears’ season was a complete disaster, finishing 5-12 and firing head coach Matt Eberflus in early December, Williams showed flashes of his limitless potential.
Johnson discussed the move to Williams, after working with Lions quarterback Jared Goff, and how he’s more than ready to adjust.
“Obviously he’s a different player and has a different skill set than Jared,” Johnson said. “I’ll be excited to see what.”
With a struggling offensive line in the 2024-25 campaign, Williams was pressured in most games, and rarely had time to adjust the quarterback. The Bears need to help him — whether it’s in the 2025 NFL Draft or free agency — to see his true throwing power in full effect.
