Lakers’ LeBron James dropped a truth bomb for the Clippers after an ugly loss
After losing to the Clippers with 116-102, i LeBron James’ eye-opening postgame commentsthe Los Angeles Lakers‘ The vibes aren’t great right now. The previous issues concerning this team remain and prevent NBA fans from believing that it is a truly successful 2024-25 season. But all the focus shouldn’t be on what the Purple and Gold did wrong on Sunday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers (24-17) deserve their honor for the relative ease with which they handled their alleged “big brother.” James went a step further than just giving them credit after their strong effort. He designated the squad heaps of praise while highlighting some of the Lakers’ shortcomings.
“It’s a great team, very well coached, Hall of Famers, great players to brag about,” James told the media, according to Spectrum SportsNet. “When you play against a great team, you have to limit your mistakes, offensively and defensively, because they make you pay, and I think they did that tonight.”
The Clippers continue to make noise in the West
It’s too early to label the Clippers “great,” but their ceiling appears to be significantly higher than many people expected before the campaign began. Norman Powell is having a career year, scoring an All-Star caliber 23.7 points on 49.2 percent overall shooting and 45.2 percent on 3-point attempts. Ivica Zubac also raises the level of the gameexuding a strong interior presence that consisted of 21 points, 19 rebounds and three blocks against the Lakers. James Harden is dishing out 8.0 assists a night, finding a way to contribute despite brutal offensive plays this year.
and oh yeah Kawhi Leonard is back in the mix. The two-time NBA Finals MVP had another productive game, scoring 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting in 24 minutes. He nearly missed becoming the fourth Clippers player to score 20 points in a win. Coach Ty Lue, who won the championship with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, proves once again why he is one of the best leaders in the league today.

The Clips are a balanced and dangerous team that demands monitoring during the second half of the season. Their strengths magnify the Lakers’ current weaknesses.
The Lakers still have a lot of work to do
The JJ Reddick Group he must establish himself on the defensive end if he is to consistently embody his best form. Unless general manager Rob Pelinka makes a valuable move before the trade deadline, LA’s 3-point shooting limitations seem here to stay. James and Anthony Davis are obviously still breaking plays, but they need to maximize the talents of those around them.
Active hands and transition basketball can propel the Lakers forward. A turnaround win is necessary, and that didn’t happen Sunday at the Intuit Dome. They committed 17 turnovers and allowed the Clippers to shoot nearly 53 percent from the field. James’ 25 points, 11 assists and three steals weren’t enough to put the Lakers in a position to truly threaten their opponent.
It’s been said ad nauseam for the past two years, but something has to change. This ongoing seesaw ride is making fans uncomfortable. If it doesn’t stop, Los Angeles won’t be able to beat higher-level competition when it matters most. Tuesday night’s home game against the Washington Wizards should ideally get the Lakers (22-18) on their feet.
