Patrick Williams gets honest about the constant struggles

When is it Chicago Bulls used the fourth overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft on a power forward Patrick Williamsthey expected him to be a future star. Here we are five years later and things are still going strong they didn’t work out for Williams. It’s his fifth season with the Bulls, and he’s still trying to fully find his way into the league.

Expectations were high for Patrick Williams as soon as he set foot in Chicago. That’s obviously what comes with a top five draft pick. Williams has yet to live up to those expectations, and it was difficult for him.

“It’s obviously a challenge,” Williams said, according to the article Chicago Tribune. “I never want to be bad at anything on the court. I always want to try to make a real game. I’m working really hard on it. I have no reason to give you for any of that.”

When Williams played at Florida State in college, he was a star. He didn’t have to think about a lot of these things and there were certain things he didn’t have to work on because it came easily to him. Things haven’t been the same since he arrived in the league, and Williams may have to change his routine if he wants to get that kind of rhythm back.

“These things used to come naturally,” Williams said. “I’ve never really worked on it until now. I’ve always been a good finisher at the rim. Dunks aren’t really something people work on – but it might have to be for the next couple of weeks until I’m comfortable again.”

Since joining the Bulls, Williams has averaged double figures in just two of his five seasons. He averaged 10.2 PPG during the 2022-23 season and 10.0 PPG the following season as well.

So far this year, Patrick Williams is averaging 9.4 PPG, 4.0 RPG and 2.2 APG. He wants to reach that potential that he knows he has, and he knows that there is only one way to achieve it: Work.

“You don’t know what you’re good at until you actually start doing it,” Williams said. “It’s part of the game.” i love it At the same time I hate it. But you can only get better if you work at it.”

If the Bulls can get the version of Patrick Williams they expected when they drafted him, the trajectory of this team could change quite a bit.
