Tiger Woods shares heartfelt message amid devastating California wildfires



Famous professional golfer Tiger Woods shares a message on social networks, after the devastating fires in California. Woods issued a statement honoring first responders and honoring victims.

“My heart goes out to those who have suffered unimaginable loss,” Woods said on X, formerly Twitter. “Thank you to the incredible heroes who are first responders and helping to contain and save the city of Los Angeles.”

The city of Los Angeles is burning after devastating fires that quickly spread through parts of the city. The investigation into what caused the fires continues. The destruction caused hundreds of thousands of people to be displaced from their homes. At least 24 people are deadaccording to the Associated Press agency.

Woods has long been associated with Southern Californiahaving grown up in the Orange County area. The golfer, who has won 82 PGA Tour titles, says he will be involved in relief efforts. In his statement, he did not specify what it would be, but said that it would be announced in the following days.

“Stay strong LA!” Woods added.

The NBA and NFL had to make contingency plans for games in Los Angeles because of the fire. The Rams’ recent NFL playoff game was moved to Arizona, while the Clippers and Lakers games were also postponed. The Lakers finally played their first game on Monday, against the San Antonio Spurs.

Woods is one of several professional athletes and celebrities who plan to help with relief efforts. Lakers star Anthony Davis is giving away free ticketsand also plans to meet with first responders.

Fires also affect PGA Tour events. The Genesis Invitational Tournament, which will be hosted by Woods, may be moved outside of the Los Angeles area. The tournament was to be played at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades.

The Genesis Invitational is scheduled for February. Time will tell if the tournament will continue as planned.
