Pelicans’ Trey Murphy III is back against the Celtics, but does Dejounte Murray play?

The New Orleans Pelicans will face the Boston Celtics, and will return one of their key players for the matchup. Trey Murphy III has missed the last few games with a sprained left ankle but it is stated in the injury report as available. That’s big for the Pelicans because Murphy has done it for them on both sides of the ball this season, and they’ll need that as they face a loaded Celtics team.

The only question is whether Dejounte Murray will play, as he is listed on the injury report with right elbow tendonitis and a right shin contusion. Murray dealt with injuries earlier in the season and missed most games after breaking his hand.

Dejounte Murray’s injury status against the Celtics

Dejounte Murray is listed as questionable against the Celtics as he has two injuries. Murray played in the last game for the Pelicans where they defeated the Philadelphia 76ers and finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

The Pelicans have been trying to get into a groove this season after being plagued by injuries for most of the season. All of their star players have missed extended time at some point, and the chemistry probably isn’t where they’d like it to be. Herb Jones has been ruled out indefinitely with an injury, and Brandon Ingram is still working his way back from injury.

Zion Williamson is back on the field, and we hope he stays healthy for the rest of the season. With Murray listed as questionable, that should leave some fans a little optimistic as they probably don’t want to fear any more injuries. If Murray is able to play, he should give the Pelicans a chance to stay competitive.
