Chargers’ Justin Herbert was burned after his meltdown against the Texans
During their Wild Card match against Houston Texas, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was the focus of many social media users. While Herbert usually has social media on his side, the complete opposite happened during his playoff meltdown against the Texans’ defense. Although users attacked CJ Stroud early on in this game, Herbert took over, having performed even worse in the first game Wild Card Weekend.
During the 2024 regular season, Herbert scored 23 touchdowns with only three interceptions.
However, Herbert threw as many interceptions against the Texans in the first round of the playoffs as he had all season, including an uncapped pick-six. In fact, after his interception late in the fourth quarter, he actually surpassed his regular season total in just one playoff game.
And with their lives in the playoffs against the DeMeco Ryans and the Texans, Herbert hasn’t been as beloved on social media as he may have been used to.
Whether it was team accounts roasting the Chargers quarterback or just NFL fans finding Herbert’s performance comical, social media went into a frenzy during this unexpected meltdown.
The social media discourse begins, owner of Barstool Sports Dave Portnoy commented about Herbert’s performance, giving it a rather unfortunate title in his post on Ks.
“Herbert is the most overrated QB in the league,” Portnoy wrote.
Along with Portnoy, others came forwarddunked on the Chargers quarterback during his wild card meltdown.
“Justin Herbert: 3 interceptions this season,” wrote Bleacher Report’s James Palmer on X. “3 interceptions today.”
Now, while some social media users were relatively mild when it came to Herbert’s performance against the Texans, here are some of the best reactions to his playoff slump:

And while Herbert will likely feel the burn from the social media frenzy, there’s no denying his talent as an NFL quarterback.
Some fans will hold this over Herbert’s head for years to come, because that’s how some NFL fans do, but fans shouldn’t discount his 2024 regular season because of a poor performance in the Wild Card round.
Considering the Chargers had the fifth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and entered the year with a brand new head coach, it’s impressive that this team even made the playoffs.
After a disappointing 32-12 loss to Texas in the first round of the playoffs, the Chargers have a lot to look forward to in 2025.
